Modded Mini tuning is about more than chasing a big dyno number—it’s about properly calibrating your MINI’s factory DME for real-world power, response, and drivability.

Every calibration is developed in-house by the Modded Mini tuning lab and backed by extensive testing and development with the MINI USA JCW Race Team. That experience allows us to bring race-proven tuning knowledge directly to your street-driven MINI.

Fuel & Performance

Our custom tunes can be configured for 91+ octane with automatic fuel adaptation. When you switch to higher-octane fuel, the DME will adapt to the new fuel mixture, typically within just a few miles.

Our tunes can also be configured for higher-octane fuel and up to E30 ethanol blends, depending on the vehicle and setup.

The calibration uses carefully controlled boost, Valvetronic, ignition, fueling, throttle, and torque management to deliver strong, usable power while maintaining the factory safeguard strategies.

Automatic Transmission Tuning

For MINI models equipped with the 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission, Modded Mini can include a free base recalibration of the transmission computer with the tune.

This allows the engine and transmission calibrations to work together properly as power increases.

Modded Mini vs. BM3

BM3 gives MINI owners access to both standard off-the-shelf (OTS) maps and custom tuning. The standard maps are designed as broader, pre-built calibrations that can work across many vehicles with similar setups—what some enthusiasts refer to as a “cookie-cutter” tune.

For customers who want something more specific, you can also use BM3 with a custom Modded Mini tune through the BM3 tuner network.

The difference with direct Modded Mini tuning is that we build the calibration specifically around your MINI, including its modifications, fuel, transmission, and performance goals. This gives us greater control over the complete tuning process, including DME calibration, transmission tuning, and diagnostic/emissions-related functionality.

You can use BM3 and request a custom tune from Modded Mini through the BM3 tuner network. It's a convenient option if you already use the platform. 

Simply find Modded Mini in the BM3 tuner network and request a custom tune.

However, direct Modded Mini tuning gives us greater control over the complete tuning process, including DME calibration, transmission tuning, and diagnostic/emissions-related functionality.

California customers and drivers in states with strict emissions testing, this distinction can be especially important. BM3-based tuning will be identified as a modified calibration during an emissions inspection, which will require returning the vehicle to the stock calibration and relocking the DME.

Modded Mini Direct Tuning emmisions takes a different approach, retaining factory diagnostic functionality and OBD readiness monitoring rather than simply disabling readiness checks. This is especially important on vehicles with additional performance modifications, including an upgraded downpipe.

Custom DME Options

We also offer DME cloning, unlocking, and recovery, including solutions for customers who want a spare DME or have a locked or bricked module.
